About Zulal Wines

Zulal Wines: The Pure Essence of Wine

In Armenian, "Zulal" means "pure", a philosophy that guides every aspect of this innovative winery. Founded in 2017 by Aimee Keushguerian, heir to a lineage of winemakers, Zulal Wines is dedicated to showcasing indigenous Armenian grape varieties through single-varietal wines. Trained alongside her father at Keush, Aimee drew from her experience to craft wines that reflect the authenticity of the Armenian terroir, without excessive winemaking intervention.

The Zulal vineyards are located in the Arpa Valley, at the heart of Vayots Dzor, a historic wine region with rich volcanic soils, high altitudes, and a distinctive continental climate. These extreme conditions enable the production of refined wines, highly valued for their purity and unique identity.

Rediscovering Ancient Grape Varieties

While Areni and Voskehat are the cornerstones of Armenian viticulture, Zulal goes even further by reviving rare and forgotten grape varieties. Areni, grown in the villages of Aghavnadzor and Rind, stands out for its freshness and complexity, while Voskehat, often called the "jewel of white grapes," impresses with its aromatic richness and depth.

True to its mission, Zulal is also dedicated to reviving lesser-known grapes such as Koghbeni from Tavush and Sireni from Artsakh, contributing to the preservation and advancement of Armenia’s rich winemaking heritage.
